KORG ARP ODYSSEY

ARP Odyssey was an analog synthesizer produced in 1972 by the American manufacturer ARP Instruments, Inc., which quickly achieved great success among musicians. Highly respected for its great value for money, ease of interpretation and portability, the ARP Odyssey underwent several improvements during its history and continued to be a great seller until it was discontinued in 1981, due to economic difficulties and the rise of new cars. digital instruments. Revered by musicians of all styles as a historical classic, its sound can be heard in numerous classical songs.
Now, in 2015, Korg has updated the ARP Odyssey. With the advice of David Friend, co-founder of ARP Instruments, Korg has fully reproduced the original circuit for artists looking to recreate classic sounds and explore new ones. The engineers at Korg and Arp have been able to achieve the sound and feel of the original. Every detail has been carefully considered to stay true to the quality of the original, right down to the sophisticated semi-hard case.

The legendary ARP sound is highly sought after today. Now the wheels of history have begun to turn again.

The original ARP Odyssey was a duophonic instrument with 2VCO. Its most distinctive feature was its sharp, piercing sound, and its rich range of timbral variations. With a variety of functions and modulation possibilities provided by oscillator sync, sample & hold, pulse width modulation, high pass filter, two types of envelope generator, and pitch shift using the PPC, he was able to create a versatile range of sounds.

The ARP Odyssey reproduces the sounds of these components at the circuit level. Under the supervision of David Friend, the pieces have been carefully selected and every detail has been fine-tuned to replicate the distinctive synthesis of the original instrument

Co-founder of ARP Instruments, Inc., along with founder Alan Robert Pearlman. In addition to designing the ARP Odyssey, he was involved in the development of numerous products and subsequently became a manager, eventually becoming president of the company. His achievements as an entrepreneur have also been acclaimed, and in 2010 he received the Ernst & Young «Entrepreneur of the Year» award (emerging technologies category). He currently serves as President and CEO of Blue Archive, Inc., and also speaks at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He is also emeritus of the New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.
